IT's OFFICIAL - Ski Slopestyle added to the Olympics

URTUR - July 4, 2011 - Durban, South Africa - 13:30 MT (source: IOC Executive Board Press Conference) -  Today the IOC Executive Board met in Durban, South Africa and has decided to include Ski Slopstyle to the program of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia!  IOC President Jacque Rogge and the Executive Board had delayed the addtion of Ski Slopestyle for further review after announcing Ski Halfpipe to the program in April of 2011.  After this review Ski Slopestyle moves forward.

Freestyle Skiing has seen a 150% increase in its Olympic Sports since the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy when only Moguls and Aerials where on the program. In the 2010 Olympic Winter Games - Vancouver, Ski Cross enjoyed its first Olympics with great success and with today's announcement Freestyle Skiing has added two additional events to the program for 2014 - Ski Halfpipe and Ski Slopestyle!  Freestyle Skiing is currently complete covering its history with the backbone sports of Moguls and Aerials - the crazy head-to-head action of Ski Cross - and the progression of Ski Pipe and Slope.
